How often should my air conditioning system be serviced?

One service every year is sufficient for air conditioning systems that are used in a residential environment for cooling only. If a system is used for both heating and cooling, we recommend two services a year. In commercial settings such as offices or restaurants, a minimum of two services a year is required and in areas where with high levels of pollutants, we advise three or more services a year.

How do I know if my air conditioner needs to be serviced?

Your air conditioner needs to be serviced if:

  1. It does not perform as well as it used to.
  2. The airflow is restricted.  
  3. The unit is giving off unpleasant smells.

Prevention is really the cure and regular maintenance or servicing can avoid any of the above scenarios.

How can I ensure that my air conditioning system lasts as long as possible?

Air conditioners are big investments. In order to prolong the life of your system as best you can, you will need to have it regularly serviced by a professional.

You can also:

  1. Keep leaves and dirt from collecting around the outdoor air conditioning unit. This will keep airflow paths clear and prevent dirt from entering the system.
  2. Make sure air grills are not blocked when arranging furniture layouts and carpeting installations.Use blinds to keep out heat in the summer.
  3. Reduce your air conditioning usage when it’s not needed.
